Document search

By using the text filter field on the POS workstation, it is possible to search documents in one of the two ways:

  • Locally – a document is searched in the POS workstation’s local database only. If the document cannot be searched, the notification “No search results” is displayed.
Local document search
  • Globally – a document is first searched in the local POS database, and then in the ERP system database. If no document can be found in the local database, the application displays the question: “No search results. Do you want to continue searching also in the ERP system?”. If at least one matching document is found, the following question will be displayed in the lower part of the list: “Do you want to continue searching also in the ERP system?”. In both cases, selecting the button [Search] will search a given document in the ERP database within a company to which the POS workstation belongs.
Note
The functionality of global document search requires the application to work in the online mode.

Note
The document search functionality is configured on the ERP system’s side.
Example
An XYZ company owns to fashion shops: in London and in Birmingham. During a business trip to London, a customer buys an L-size shirt. After the customer returns home, it turns out that the shirt is too tight. The customer goes to the closest XYZ shop in Birmingham and asks the cashier to exchange the shirt for a different size. The user cannot access the receipt presented by the customer in the POS workstation’s local database. In order to carry out the exchange process, the user enters the receipt’s number in the text filter field on the trade document list and selects [Search]. If the POS workstation works in the online mode, and a relevant document is visible in the ERP system for a center to which the workstation is attached, the search result will be displayed in a moment. Owing to that, the POS workstation’s operator in Birmingham will be able to perform the exchange process on the basis of the receipt created on the POS workstation in London.
